Brunch in Amsterdam after 11am? Yeah, you've still got us
Share
It's 13:45 on a Sunday. You finally rolled out of bed, the rest of the city's already eaten, and your phone is full of brunch spots that closed their kitchen an hour ago. Walk into MOAK on the Jodenbreestraat. We're still going.
Most brunch spots in Amsterdam stop serving at 11. A handful keep going till 14:00 if you're lucky. We run the full menu from 08:30 to 15:30, every day of the week. Same eggs, same pancakes, same sourdough toasts from Bakkerij Louf — whether you walk in at 09:00 or 14:55.
It started in 2016, when Sammy and a bunch of friends opened the first MOAK (back then MOOK) in the City Center. The idea was simple: people don't eat by the clock anymore. Some of us wake up at 7. Some of us wake up at noon. The menu shouldn't care.
So we built it around that. The Wu Tang — bacon, scrambled eggs with cheddar, caramelised onions, avocado, maple — works just as well at 09:00 as it does at 14:00. The Infamous, our Daily Paper collab, with real Callebaut Belgian chocolate and Ben & Jerry's on top — orders pick up around 11:30 and don't stop until close. The Golddigger, the 22-karat gold leaf pancake stack on a Versace plate, gets ordered as much for a 10am birthday as a 14:00 anniversary.
Where you'll find us
Three locations, all open the same hours, all serving the same menu.
Amsterdam City Center — Jodenbreestraat 144. Big outside terrace, 5 minutes from the Rembrandt House, 12 minutes from Centraal Station. The terrace fills up fast on sunny days, so come before 11 or after 13:30 if you want a seat outside.
Amsterdam De Pijp — Ferdinand Bolstraat 11. Two blocks from the Heineken Experience, five minutes from the Albert Cuyp market. Cosier, more neighbourhood. Locals end up here on weekday late mornings.
Utrecht Neude — Vinkenburgstraat 15. Three minutes from the Dom Tower. Day trippers from Amsterdam tend to use this as a brunch reset before the train back.
How to time it
If you want to skip the wait, weekdays after 13:30 are the easiest seat in the house. Sundays after 14:00 too. The busy hours are Saturday and Sunday between 11 and 13:30 — expect 15–25 minutes wait at the City Center terrace.
Walk in, no reservation. Groups of 6 to 40, just email info@moakpancakes.nl beforehand and we'll sort it.
One more thing
Follow @moakpancakes on Instagram or TikTok and show the staff before you order — your Super Boost gingershot is on the house. It's a small thing but it's the kind of thing that ends up in our reviews.
That, and the Japanese toilets. Just go check.
